I first met Hannah when I found her on Instagram a few years ago and fell in love with her photography! She took our family portraits that year and the following year when I had the opportunity to swap portrait sessions with her I was all about it. I love when parents don't mind embracing that kids will be kids! Hannah didn't mind in the slightest that Parker and Adelaide had sticks clutched in their fists for most of our shoot and it allowed me to capture moments instead of just posed portraits. If you don't already follow her on instagram, do yourself a favor and find her now @hannahcmann Her feed is filled with so much more than pretty pictures! She shares beautifully honest, raw words on parenthood that almost always make me teary eyed.
In the hustle and bustle of wedding season, it was so much fun to take portraits for this sweet little family of three. Their beautiful, curly-haired 13 month old stole the show! Her mama initially scheduled this milestone session to document her daughter turning one. My own daughter is 4 now, and while I'm loving this age, I do miss the days of pudgy arms and heavy cheeks. My own daughter's first year of life was simultaneously the longest and shortest year I've ever experienced. Nothing makes me happier than when clients make it a priority to document this fleeting time. Because let me tell you, those arms will grow long and lean, and those baby cheeks will thin. I hope that for this mama, these photos will always take her right back to this moment in time.
I met this beautiful family for the first time last year when they drove down from Orange County to have portraits taken with me for Christmas cards. I was so excited to have the opportunity to take Olivia's One Year Milestone portraits as well. I absolutely love how Kelly always has matching "Mommy & Me" flower crowns made. Little details like that really add that extra something to photos.
Sarah + Jonathan could not have been any more fun to spend the afternoon with! After having to change location plans a few times -- once due to a Renaissance fair that overtook the park we wanted to shoot at (we weren't too keen on drunk wenches as our backdrop haha ) -- Sarah suggested this beautiful little corner tucked away in a neighborhood. They brought their sweet puppy Ruby who they are head over heels for and we spent the rest of the afternoon laughing.
This family. Their outfits. This location. Three of my favorite things!
I have been so, so busy with photo sessions the last few months that I've been neglecting this corner of the internet! This week I'd love to share some amazing families with you. First up, meet the Bolen family! They all look like they stepped straight out of a GAP ad. Not only are they absolutely beautiful but their family dynamic was so sweet to witness. You can tell how much joy they get just from being together. Mom and dad had such a chemistry together and needed absolutely zero directing when it came to a few couples shots -- they just melted into each other.
